2012 Market season starts off in Prentice Park with Canada Day celebrations

The Mountain Market will be celebrating Canada's birthday this weekend in Prentice Park, Fernie. On July 1st, Fernie will host Canada Day events and activities for all to enjoy, with the market running from 12-5pm, during the daylong event.

"It’s the first market of 2012 and it’s usually one of our biggest," said Mountain Market Coordinator Dawn Deydey, "This year looks like its going to be better than ever."

Wednesday Night Downtown Street Market & Concert Series

The Wednesday Concerts and Market series is a weekly community event taking place this summer in Station Square next to the Arts Station from 5-9pm. Peruse local vendors' offerings, enjoy a bite to eat and refreshments, or relax in the beverage gardens where Fernie Brewing Co. beer and BC Wines are available, all while appreciating live entertainment. It runs on Wednesday nights throughout July and August in Downtown Fernie.

UNBC Study shows local farmers market contributes over $220,000 to Fernie's economy annually.

Fernie, BC - Tuesday, June 19th, 2007: In 2006, the Mountain Market, as one of twenty eight British Columbia farmers markets, participated in a University of Northern British Columbia Economic and Community Impacts study of BC Farmers Markets. The results were impressive, showing that B.C.’s farmers’ markets contribute $118.5 million annually to the provincial economy,and reflected the increasing role of farmers markets in local food systems and their contributions to British Columbia’s communities.
